Oklahoma Cartoonist Collection

The Oklahoma Cartoonist Collection was first put together by Michael Vance of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Vance collected together examples of artists and writers works that were considered Oklahomans along with some out-of-state associates who helped these talented individuals do what they do.
The Collection is housed in the Toy & Action Figure Museum and is an integral part of the displays. Today, a committee of Cartoonists oversees the collection and determine the candidates for induction into the Oklahoma Cartoonist Hall of Fame. This ceremony takes place each year at the Toy & Action Figure Museum’s annual birthday celebration in October.
Currently, some of the collection is on loan to the Oklahoma History Center for their Okie Cartoonist Exhibit.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT – 10/31/11: Due to the recent revelation of another apparent incidence of plagiarism on the part of David Simpson, who had been inducted into the Oklahoma Cartoonists Hall of Fame in 2005, before he had been terminated by the Tulsa World for plagiarizing another cartoonist’s work, the Oklahoma Cartoonists committee now hereby announces the formal retraction of that honor. |
