The Toy & Action Figure Museum continues to support education and literacy by welcoming Race Car Drivers Night…

The Toy & Action Figure Museum continues to support education and literacy by welcoming Race Car Drivers Night Before Christmas author, Una Belle Townsend, to the museum for a book reading and signing. Mrs. Townsend is preparing for the 2011 Christmas season with her illustrated children’s book, The Race Car Drivers Night Before Christmas by holding a book signing and reading at the Toy & Action Figure Museum, Saturday, December 17, 2011 from 2 to 3:30.

At 2 pm Townsend will read her book and be available to sign copies and have photos taken. Around 2:30 the first 24 children can take part in making a Racecar Christmas Ornament they can take home with them and hang on their tree.

After organizing a special Christmas Eve race in Daytona, drivers Junior and Michael are in for a holiday treat when a strange car pulls up on the track. It’s covered in blinking lights and tinsel and smells of green pine, and the driver is Santy Claus, who is ready to race. Racecar Driver’s Night Before Christmas is a holiday story unlike any other as Santy Claus competes for the gold in the Jingle Bell Jammer, outracing the best and leaving presents of pistons and brakes behind for the racecar drivers who have been good all year.

Townsend’s book has won many awards, including Winner, 2004 Oklahoma Book Award for Juvenile Literature, 2004 IRA/CBC Children’s Choices Selection,
Accelerated Reader Program Selection and Scholastic Reading Counts! Selection.
